Union Support

My name is Victoria Schmotzer. I am running for State Representative from the 38th District:

-       Baldwin

-       Dravosburg

-       Glassport

-       West Mifflin

-       Whitehall

-       31st Ward of Pittsburgh (Lincoln Place)

I want to thank Darrin Kelly and the Allegheny County Labor Council for inviting me.

We just finished up the Petition Drive and filed ALL the legal paperwork in Harrisburg. My Team gathered 653 signatures of Registered Democrats – the most of any candidate in this race by over 150 signatures.

I am not a Union Member, but my Great-Grandfather, Michael J. Brickley, was President of Pittsburgh Firefighters Local #1. My Grandfather, Ben Schmotzer, was a Steel Worker, and my father was a Teamster. But this race is NOT about the past – it is about the future.

Let me tell you about myself - Victoria Schmotzer. A person who cares deeply about fairness and equality. A person who will fight for employees' and women's rights. A person with a sense of urgency to get things done.

I have a Masters Degree in Business. I worked as an HR Specialist for the United States Small Business Administration with a Secret Security Clearance. I taught early childhood education. I was a staff auditor for a CPA Firm. Additionally, I published 9 articles for a news-based company and interned at a local legal firm to understand how laws affect our citizens and everyday families.

My political DNA comes from my grandmother, Pat Schmotzer. She was on Council & was the first Democrat & only female Mayor in Dormont’s History. She was a worker, a fighter, & a helped people throughout her life.

Currently, I am the Elected Constable in Whitehall, beating the incumbent Republican in a write-in-vote for both Democrats and Republicans.

At 18 years old, I was the youngest person ever elected to the Pennsylvania State Democratic Committee with over 9,300 votes.

When elected, I, Victoria Schmotzer, will fight for Union Issues, employee rights, working families, and most importantly, you and your members in Harrisburg.
